Tenth Line reopened following salt truck rollover

The road was closed between Mountain Road and Georgian Meadows while crews work to get the truck out and clean up the spilled salt

A transport truck carrying a load of road salt rolled over on the Tenth Line this morning, causing the road to be closed for much of the day.

Local OPP, the Collingwood Fire Department, Simcoe County Paramedics, and the Town of Collingwood's Public Works department were called to the scene at about 9:30 a.m. this morning (Feb. 4).

No injuries have been reported.

Tenth Line between Mountain Road and Georgian Meadows was still closed at 12:30 p.m. while crews worked to upright the transport truck.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area at this time.

The Town of Collingwood's Public Works's coordinator Kris Wiszniak was on scene this morning to oversee the clean up. He said about half the truck's load of salt spilled onto the road and the entrance to the Agnora glass plant.

Town staff brought dump trucks and loader machines to clean up the spilled salt and take it to the public works yard and the road is expected to reopen by about 1:45 p.m.

Wiszniak confirmed the town contacted the Spills Action Centre to confirm their clean-up plan.

The salt truck was on its way to deliver the salt to the town's public works yard on the tenth line when it rolled over into the ditch.
