An upcoming gala on Saturday hosted by the Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club will be helping transform a Thornbury park to make it an even better, more-inclusive space for the community.
The Rotary Club is hosting a Kindness Gala on Nov. 9 at the Georgian Peaks Ski Club, which will include dining, dancing, a live band, and prizes. The gala will help the club achieve its $200,000 fundraising goal for the Kindness at Play initiative supporting the revitalization of Moreau Park in Thornbury.
To date, the club has raised $92,000 to help cover a rebuild of the skate park, a year-round accessible paved pathway, sensory gardens, and an accessible playground.
The Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club was formed in 1938, and since then, its members have committed time and money to local projects, including the Bayview Park Rotary Pavillion, contributions to the Beaver Valley Community Centre and Arena and support for the Blue Mountains Health Centre.
