The Blue Mountain Film + Media Festival (BMFM) has announced a special fundraising screening in Collingwood featuring the BMFM 2024 People’s Choice Award winners supporting the BMFM School Program.

Taking place on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at Galaxy Theatre Cinemas in Collingwood, the exclusive event will showcase last year’s festival faves The Teacher Who Promised the Sea (feature film) and Smoke Break (short film).

Tickets are $25 plus tax, with the proceeds directly supporting BMFM’s High School Screening Program.

The program provides local high school students access to thought-provoking cinema at the 4th annual festival (May 29 – June 1).

Tickets are available at https://bluemtnfilmfest.ca/.

BMFM’s High School Screening Program offers Grey and Simcoe County students a curated film experience that encourages them to view the world from new perspectives.

The 2025 student screening, scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, will feature a specially selected film, followed by a live Q&A to deepen students’ engagement with the storytelling process.

"The BMFM Student Program is about more than just watching a film — it’s about expanding students’ worldviews, inspiring critical thinking, and sparking meaningful conversations," Jason Gorber, director of festival programming said in a news release.

High school teachers interested in bringing their students to the May 28 student screening can contact Cheryl Izen, school program coordinator, at [email protected] to learn more.
