The Simcoe County Food Council is hosting a Lunch and Learn:
When: April 17 at 12 p.m.
Where: Zoom

The federal government recently announced the creation of a National School Food Program and is supporting the program with $1 billion over five years. The Simcoe County Food Council will be hosting a presentation by Sarah Keyes, provincial lead, Ontario chapter of the Coalition for Healthy School Food. The coalition was instrumental in helping bring this program to fruition.

Sarah will share updates on school food programs in Ontario and Canada, including the new National School Food Program, provincial advocacy and actions, and opportunities to support this work in local communities.

She will also give an overview of Food is Science, which supports educators in teaching about food and food systems in Ontario’s new science and tech curriculum.

The Zoom presentation will last about 40 minutes and will have a 20-plus-minute opportunity for Q&A.

For more information, contact Kari Klassen, community co-ordinator, Simcoe County Food Council, [email protected] or 705-619-3696.
