Join Warden George Cornell to celebrate Simcoe Day (Civic Holiday) with a free community event at the Simcoe County Museum.

The event runs Monday, August 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a free BBQ. Guests will enjoy complimentary admission to the Simcoe County Museum, a chance to learn more about County programs and services, a guided walk through the Museum Tract, a range of picnic-themed activities and of course a BBQ with homemade ice cream as a special treat.

The BBQ is being sponsored by the County of Simcoe and will provide guests with hot dogs and a vegetarian option. As quantities are limited, guests are encouraged to come early. A donation to the local Food Bank is encouraged.

Did you know that the Civic Holiday is also celebrated as Simcoe Day in honour of Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe (1752 –1806)? Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe served as the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada and was a founding figure in Canadian history. Throughout Simcoe County and Ontario, Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe is recognized for his efforts.
