Six new COVID-19 cases at schools in Simcoe County today

There are six new COVID-19 cases being reported in schools across Simcoe County today.

Currently, there are 34 total active COVID-19 cases being reported by local school boards at Simcoe County schools as of 4 p.m. on Oct. 29.

Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School in Barrie has one new case and one classroom closure.

There is one new case at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie, and two classroom closures. This adds to one case previously reported at the school.

Orchard Park Public School in Orillia is reporting two new cases, and two classroom closures.

W.H. Day Elementary School in Bradford is reporting one case and one classroom closure.

La Source Elementary School in Barrie, which is part of the Conseil scolaire Viamonde board, is reporting one new case today.

According to the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 26 active cases spread across six schools:

  • Father F.X. O'Reilly Catholic School is reporting one case, and one classroom closure
  • 16 cases at Holy Cross Catholic School in Innisfil with seven classrooms closed
  • Two cases at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie and two classroom closures
  • Two cases at St. Mary's Catholic School in Collingwood, with two classrooms closed
  • Four cases and seven classroom closures at St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Barrie
  • One case at St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School in Barrie, two classroom closures

The health unit declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Holy Cross Catholic School on Oct. 15, which is still active.

At the Simcoe County District School Board, they are currently reporting seven active cases spread across four schools:

  • Assikinack Public School in Barrie has three cases and three classroom closures
  • Hewitt's Creek Public School in Barrie has one case and one classroom closure
  • Orchard Park Public School in Orillia has two cases, and two classroom closures
  • W.H. Day Elementary School in Bradford is reporting one case and one classroom closure

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting an outbreak at Assikinack Public School as of Oct. 21, and at Portage View Public School as of Oct. 22. Both are still active.

La Source Elementary School in Barrie, which is part of the Conseil scolaire Viamonde board, reported one active case on Oct. 29.
