A team of staff from SkyDev, a real estate developer with developments in Collingwood and Meaford, planted 250 trees at a local conservation area last week.

The team planted the trees at the Petun Conservation Area as part of a project with the SkyDev parent company, Skyline Group. In total, the initiative saw staff plant 655 trees in Canada to mark National Forest Week and National Tree Day.

SkyDev is based in Guelph, but volunteers travelled to the Collingwood area to plant the mid-sized trees.

According to a news release from the company, the event was done in partnership with Tree Canada.

SkyDev has committed to replacing all trees impacted at any of its development properties, according to the release.

“Our tree re-planting initiative is just one part of our commitment to sustainable growth at each of our developments,” said Carrie Lamarche, vice president, SkyDev, in the news release. “We’ve been working closely with the Municipality of Meaford and Town of Collingwood to ensure that we are developing sustainably and making the most use of green space and protecting sensitive lands adjacent to watercourses at each of these properties.”

SkyDev is behind a proposed development in Meaford on the corner of Fuller and Boucher Street, and in Collingwood off Highway 26 near Rupert's Landing.
