Snow Squall Watch in effect for:

  • Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County

Lake effect snow squalls may impact the region beginning Monday afternoon.

Hazards:
Locally heavy snowfall with total accumulations of 15 to 25 cm.
Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 3 cm per hour.
Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow.

Timing:
Monday afternoon into Tuesday afternoon. 

Discussion:
Snow squalls are expected to develop Monday afternoon however the regions likely to be affected remain uncertain. The threat of snow squalls will diminish Tuesday afternoon.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear sky to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Road closures are possible.
