Kids could be enjoying a splash pad in Collingwood as early as next year.
On Monday night Councillor Tina Comi asked for an update on the splash pad project at Harbourview Park. The project is part of the Waterfront Master Plan.
Dean Collver, director of parks, recreation, and culture, said town staff were expecting to share the site plan and waterpark concept with council on Nov. 4.
He hopes to put the project out for tender in the winter with construction to begin in the spring, however, he could not commit to a strict timeline.
Collver said the town has been working through studies such as environmental impact assessments, flood analysis, and a landfill study. The town is working with a landscape architect for an on-site layout.
In the Waterfront Master Plan, the recommendations included a splash pad that would double as part of a skating loop in the winter.
In an email to CollingwoodToday, Collver said he couldn’t comment on whether that remains the plan for the splash pad. He said he would deliver the site plan report on Nov. 4, and couldn’t speak to it before addressing council first.
Collver will be presenting first at the Corporate and Community Services Standing Committee meeting (Nov. 4), which will be a public meeting and will include time for comments and/or questions from the public.
