Sunset Point partially open, mind the grass seed

The central portion of Sunset Point remains closed, but there are sections on either end open for recreational use

The east and west portions of Sunset Point have now reopened to the public for recreational use. The central portion of the park remains closed.

The Town of Collingwood is asking those visiting the park to stay off the freshly seeded grass and respect all signage and barricades still in place. They are there for remediation and safety.

Public washrooms are not open, so plan ahead if you're going to stop by the park.

The town is asking people to practice physical distancing, follow the health guidelines and abide by the provincial ban on gatherings greater than five people.

As always, there is no overnight camping allowed at the park.

Sunset Point park sustained serious damage starting last fall, and the town had been waiting on a provincial permit to begin remediation work. The permit was approved this spring and work has since commenced to rebuild the shoreline and repair the damage.
