NEWS RELEASE
THEATRE COLLINGWOOD

To say this has been an interesting year for Theatre Collingwood would be an understatement!
The 35-year-old professional theatre company has provided theatre goers with a full slate of 12 productions so far this year, in various interesting venues throughout South Georgian Bay. From the Normandy Room at the Collingwood Legion, to the Simcoe Street Theatre, the First Presbyterian Church and the Blue Mountain Inn, to the Georgian Bay Hotel, out to The Marsh Street Centre, and across to the Great Northern Exhibition Fair Grounds, patrons have been supporting the company’s creative spirit and journey to find a permanent home.
“We are so thankful to our patrons for continuing to support Theatre Collingwood and for taking a leap of faith this year”, said Executive Director Erica Angus. “Feedback has been tremendous with some saying they love the multiple venues and seeing where we will be next!”
Travelling around forever is not at all what Theatre Collingwood intends to do and they are hopeful that a Centre for The Arts is in the near future for the region. For 2020 they will be narrowing down the venues to the patron’s favourites, while still offering a full year of entertainment. Early Bird Subscriptions will go on sale in November.
Stay tuned, because Theatre Collingwood’s 2019 season is not over yet! The company has two more shows to offer up before this year is over.
Nov. 20-22 they will present Soul Sisters at the Blue Mountain Inn for three performances. This show is going to be packed full of fantastic music and talent! Soul Sister’s tells the story of the women of Soul Music and R&B, starting with Big Mama Thornton, Etta James, Soul Queen Aretha Franklin, and Gladys Knight, through the 60’s and 70’s with Patti LaBelle, Diana Ross and Tammi Terrell. The show also includes the fantastic music of Tina Turner, Chaka Kahn, and Janet Jackson! Featuring two amazing lead singers and an outstanding band, you do not want to miss this show that will have you dancing and singing in your seats!
Then on Dec. 20, after you are finished all the crazy Christmas parties and shopping, you can join Theatre Collingwood back at First Presbyterian Church for a lovely dramatic reading of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, featuring local talent and VIPs! After the reading enjoy some hot cider and Christmas baking, and a chance to relax with friends and enjoy the season! A list of participating readers will be announced soon.
