There are still some empty seats on local committees tasked with advising council on matters related to the local museum, trails, active transportation, heritage, and accessibility.
The town has extended the application deadline for its committees to March 12, and there are multiple vacancies to fill.
Committees currently being recruited for include:
- accessibility advisory committee ( two vacancies)
- Collingwood heritage committee (one vacancy)
- museum advisory committee (one vacancy)
- trails and active transportation advisory committee (three vacancies)
The accessibility advisory committee's role is to advise council on implementing accessibility standards, review site plans for accessibility concerns, and other tasks as requested by council.
The Collingwood heritage committee advises council on heritage matters, particularly related to the local heritage district, and is also involved in initiatives such as the heritage newsletter, grants, awards, and heritage permits.
The museum advisory committee advises and assists in the operation of the Collingwood Museum, including providing input on long-term plans.
The trails and active transportation advisory committee provides recommendations to council in the areas of active transportation and trails and coordinates volunteers for ongoing stewardship of the town's multi-use trails in partnership with town staff and the accessibility committee.
