Have you ever had a special pet that meant the world to you? Walk in their honour on Sept. 22 at the Georgian Triangle Humane Society’s Walkathon to raise critical funds for animals in need.
The 7th annual Friends for Life Walkathon takes place on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Blue Mountain Village. Funds raised support programs and services provided by the Georgian Triangle Humane Society who receives no government funding and relies solely on community support through events such as the walkathon.
In addition to the 3 km walk, the event will include lots of family friendly activities like animal readings by a medium, photo opportunities with characters from Paw Patrol, a best costume and a best trick competition, just to name a few!
You don’t need a dog to participate in the event – anyone who enjoys getting outside and helping their community is urged to show their support. Those who can’t make it can register as a virtual walker to lace up and walk when and where it’s convenient for them.
“The Friends for Life Walkathon makes second chances possible for abused, neglected and homeless animals,” says Anna Agresta, fundraising coordinator at the Georgian Triangle Humane Society. “Whether you are walking for your furry best friend, a beloved past pet, or on behalf of animals across Ontario, know that by participating in the walk you are taking the first step to giving animals a second chance at an amazing life.”
