The Town of Wasaga Beach is abandoning a plan to sell more 5,000 tickets to a Shawn Desman concert tomorrow.

Instead, the outdoor concert will be free.

A news release from the town indicates the town has “received significant feedback from the community indicating a preference for free entertainment,” but as of ten days ago, the town had sold 25 tickets at $35 each for the concert.

The 52 individuals who purchased tickets already will by reimbursed. Those who won tickets via radio station give-a-ways will be able to participate in a meet-and-greet with Desman.

The town initially set aside $2,500 for advertising but has since increased it to $16,833.

In addition to the advertising budget, the cost to the town for the production, artist and riders was $69,000, and security costs are estimated at $4,500.
