  • Barrie - Orillia - Midland
  • Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus

Current details:
Very cold air will arrive over the region this evening giving wind chill values near -30 C Saturday morning.

Hazards:

Timing:
Late this evening through late Saturday morning.

Discussion:
A cold front will move from north to south over the region this evening. Minimum temperatures near -20 C combined with northerly winds up to 20 km/hr will give wind chill values near -30 C for several hours on Saturday morning. Temperatures will remain cold on Saturday, however, temperatures and wind chill values will begin to improve Saturday afternoon through Saturday night.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.

If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks to warm up.
