This is no joke, you’ll have to stop at Cedar and Second Street intersection no matter which way you’re travelling tomorrow.
The town announced the new stop signs making the intersection a four-way stop will be installed as of 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 2.
Council voted unanimously in favour of the new stop signs at a council meeting March 11. The signs were recommended by staff after a traffic count at the intersection conducted in August resulted in volumes recorded that met the provincial standard for a four-way intersection.
At the time, crews also studied traffic volumes at Cedar and Third Street, but concluded a four-way stop was not warranted due to volume.
Local residents asked council and staff to reconsider the Cedar and Third Street intersection, and council voted to have staff conduct further traffic counts at the intersection to determine whether additional signs are required.
