On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 64, passed peacefully, at Sunset Manor Long Term Care, Collingwood. She was received into God’s loving arms to join her beloved husband Darryl, who predeceased her in March 2024.
Charlene was the cherished daughter of Rodney “Rod” and Miriam “Toots” Arnold of Wasaga Beach. Dear sister to Murray and Jan Arnold, Leanne Rogers and Brian Currie, Brian and Sue Arnold and sister-in-law of Diane and Ed Harris.
Special Aunt who was treasured by her nieces and nephews: the late Steven(Leah), Scott(Natalie), Kelly(Nathan), Kailey (Corey), Gwen, Dylan, Josh and Sarah.
Charlene was also an endless source of inspiration and resilience to all of her friends and extended family who loved her. Her smile was infectious and she spread joy and sunshine to all who knew her. She was always grateful for her family and anyone who helped her.
Born in Mississauga, she spent her youth and early 20’s with her family and friends. Attended Queenston Public School, Woodlands Secondary and Sheridan College. She took tap dance, enjoyed swimming, her horse Sunshine and camping with her family. Her favourite job was working at Bennett’s Gulf where she met Darryl and began their courtship. After their marriage in 1989, they loved going to concerts, fishing and camping in Peterborough. She loved to dance and was full of life and vigor. Charlene suffered heart failure in 1992 and spent 16months in hospital. “Team Charlene” was formed and she was the glue that held our family together ever since. She always had positive thoughts and said that “Negativity was not in my vocabulary”. She and Darryl moved to Wasaga Beach in 1999. They loved their apartment on the beach and enjoyed watching sunsets, campfires, barbeques and parties that Darryl would put together. Darryl’s passing this year was sudden and Charlene was our voice of strength and guidance. She told us she only wanted “Happy Thoughts”. Team Charlene came together again until she moved to her new residence at Sunset Manor. She understood her situation and accepted it with grace and dignity. She only wanted to make other people smile and be happy. This she did exceptionally well. Her Faith was strong and never missed saying Grace at all family dinners and it we will miss this greatly.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Sunset Manor for their compassion and dedication to Charlene. We also wish to express our deepest appreciation for the PSW’s of St. Elizabeth’s Healthcare team. Their exceptional care and support for Charlene over 25years meant the world to us.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlene to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Charity of Choice would be appreciated by the family.
