It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband/Dad/Papa on March 18, 2025, after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a trusted friend, and a man who lived his life with kindness, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved.
Garry had a way of making everyone feel at ease, whether it was through his warm smile, his infectious laugh, or his genuine interest in people’s lives. As a car salesman, he didn’t just sell cars, he built relationships. He believed in honesty, in treating people with respect, and in making sure that every person who walked into the dealership left feeling valued.
But above all else, Garry was a family man. He was a devoted husband of 52 years, always putting his wife Ruth first, supporting her in every way and making her feel loved and cherished. As a father he was loving, patient and endlessly proud of his daughters Christine and Stephanie. As a proud Papa Arnie to Alera, Payten, Taylor and Avery he took genuine interest in their lives, sports and dreams. Always present and encouraging and always leading by example.
His generosity didn’t stop with his family. He was a man who believed in giving back, in making the world a little better than he found it. Whether he was volunteering with the Lions Club, or offering words of encouragement to those in need, he lived his life giving to others.
To say that Garry will be missed is an understatement. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his love and his laughter will live on in our hearts forever.
We will honour his memory by carrying forward the lessons he taught us, to love unconditionally, to give generously, and to live each day with kindness and gratitude.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to Hudson Regional Cancer Centre in Barrie, Ontario.
Rest in Peace Garry. You were truly one of a kind, and we are all better for having known you. Arrangements entrusted to Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood.
