ANDREWS, Dorothy Marion

Posted

Kenney 01

Dorothy passed away peacefully at Barrie Manor on November 22, 2019 at the age of 87 after a long and happy life.  She was the loving wife for 68 years to her late husband Gordon Andrews.

She leaves a rich family legacy of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the devoted Mother of four children:  Susan Kenney (Lorne), Phillip Andrews (Ilania), Paul Andrews and David Andrews (Maria).

Grandmother of:  Jeannette Lively, John Kenney, Carrisa Bearup, Ashley Andrews-Terry, Dianna Andrews, Richard Andrews, Ayla Andrews, Dana Andrews, Daniel Andrews, Brittany Gough and David Gough.

Great Grandmother of:  Kevin Lively, Riley Bearup, Lillian Kenney, Jack Kenney and Michaela Terry.

Dorothy was the middle child of Edith Mae and Arthur Smith and was predeceased by her siblings Joyce and William.

Dorothy’s life centred on her family.  She thrived on being the constant source of strength and encouragement to her husband.  She supported and encouraged all her children’s activities, passions and aspirations throughout her life.  The home she created was always open, warm and welcoming and she was a second mother to many of her children’s friends.

Her passion was cooking special family meals and baking, especially in anticipation of Christmas.  Special treats were her specialty for the weekly trips to the family cottage, holidays and other special occasions.

In retirement she and Gordon enjoyed travelling.  They visited Europe and cruised the east coast of Africa and every country in Asia and the Caribbean. Winters were spent in Portugal, Arizona and Progresso Mexico.

Family and friends are invited to Celebration of Dorothy’s Life on Wednesday November 27, 2019 at All Saints Anglican Church, Collingwood. Visitation is at 12:00 noon followed by the Service at

1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Collingwood General Marine Hospital would be most appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to Chatterson Funeral Home, Collingwood.
