Dorothy Maxine Marshall (nee Potts) passed away on Wednesday May 29, 2024, at Campbell House in Collingwood. She greatly appreciated all the visitors that came to see her during the two weeks in the hospital and week in hospice. She is now at peace and reunited with her late husband Cliff (2011) and all her treasured family and friends that have gone before her.

Dorothy was born and raised in Collingwood, ‘lived here all my life’ she would say, if asked. She was proud to be a Bell Telephone operator and even hosted a Bell reunion for the operators. She worked briefly at Blue Mountain Pottery and then Harding Carpets, establishing many lifelong friendships.

Retiring early, she and Cliff spent many winters in their favourite spot in Naples, Florida and acquired many more friends along the way.

She loved to be active, on the move and social, making deliveries for the flower shop, she knew the streets and was an encyclopedia of whose house it was when she was a kid. Her memory was amazing.

Over the years she enjoyed skating, bowling, golf and more recently playing darts at the Rec Plex. Hosting the Thompson family reunion for many years as well as hayrides, pool parties and countless card games, she loved bringing people together.

Mom loved to bake pies, muffins, cookies and of course her butter tarts that she never followed a recipe for, we will miss them all.

Dorothy is survived by her son Scott (Tracie), and daughters Lisa and Shari, her sister Heather and many nieces, nephews and cousins. We mustn’t forget Tuff and Harley.

Predeceased by parents William and Marion (Thompson) Potts, sister Frances Ann (Earl, Don), brother Charles (Catherine), brother-in-law George, brother-in-law Ray and sister-in-law Elsie Marshall and her husband of 50 years Clifford Marshall.

We would like to express our gratitude for the warm, kind and caring staff at Campbell House, they took such care to bring all of us comfort.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 7, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Collingwood. Friends may visit Dorothy's online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
