September 2, 1955 to June 16, 2024.
Gary Collins passed away on June 16th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was just 68 years old. Gary will be remembered by many as a friendly giant with a huge heart. He was strong, stubborn, playful and compassionate, often putting the needs of others before his own, and always taking care of those he loved. An avid outdoorsman, he was passionate about fishing, enjoyed a long drive, and loved to spend time on the water. He never missed an opportunity to tell a good "dad joke," reminisce on old stories, or chat about the weather. He knew a little bit about a lot of things, and we will miss the way he could brighten our days with his humour, knowledge and love.
Born in Toronto, Gary and his family moved to Wasaga Beach in 1997, where he remained for the rest of his days. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 48 years, Mavis; his children: Jennifer (John), Robert (Kelsie), and Ashley (Scott); his beloved grandchildren Evaleigh and Ayla to whom he was known as "Pappy"; his grandpuppies, Hartley and Sadie; his siblings Linda (Les), Eddie and Sharon; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Hadow and Anne, his parents-in-law, Bobby and Grace, and his brother-in-law, Paul.
A celebration of life will be held at Marlwood Golf and Country Club in Wasaga Beach on Sunday, July 7th from 1pm to 5pm. Memories will be shared at 2pm.
