Cunningham, Gilda Catherine (nee Stetler) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 26th, 2024, in Collingwood, ON.

Gilda was born and raised on a farm in Windham Centre, ON. The Eldest of five children born to parents Dudley and Ada Stetler.

Gilda was the proud and loving mother of Sharon (Larry) VanGoethem, Barry Cunnigham (Cheryl, Janice (Gary) Bezzo, Joanne (Dale) Sparks, Jerry (Rose) Cunningham and Penny Cunningham. She was the cherished grandmother of Chloe, Liam, Tracy, Trevor, Cory, Lacey, Dean, Warren, Joshua, Jerrit and Jesse. She was loved by her many great grandchildren.

She is survived by her brothers Wyatt and Gerald Stetler and sister Gloria White, predeceased by her sister Donna Vajtku.

Gilda was an accomplished seamstress from bridal gowns to skating costumes, she could create and sew anything. She was a member of the Red Hats Society; her designation name was 'Gilda Sew Sew'.

She drove a school bus for many years, the friendly face behind the wheel getting children to and from school safely.

She loved playing cards; line dancing and she loved the Blue Jays. She was a true people person. She was well known and respected in the community.

Gilda was strong and feisty, a true matriarch of her family. The one who welcomed everyone to her home and created a legacy of love and kindness. Her talents in the kitchen provided a delightful culinary experience to all. Whether she was cooking or baking, from cabbage rolls to key lime pie, her homemade meals were always a memorable encounter. The dining table was a popular place, noting never an empty chair.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place. Details for a celebration of life will follow in the spring.
