Born on September 21, 1943 in Rouyn-Noranda, and a long-time resident of Burlington, Ontario, John was a passionate and active member of his community. He was a lifetime member of New Beginnings and the proud owner of Canadian Fire and JD Restorations & Construction.
John was known for his entrepreneurial spirit, hospitality, generosity, sense of humor, and passion for cooking and entertaining. While he only had three children of his own, he will forever be remembered as “Dad” or “Papa” by nearly everyone who knew him. Whether you knew him as John Claude from Timmins, Dad, Papa Dido, Papa Dubeau, Papa, or Collingwood Carl, you knew he never missed an opportunity to show love and kindness to everyone who crossed his path.
John is survived by his life partner, Wendy Robertson; his daughter, Crystal Dionne (née Dubeau), and her husband, John Dionne; and his stepson, Darren Robertson. He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren, of whom he was so proud: Katelyn (Logan), Courtney, Kennedy, and Ellah; and by his great-grandchildren, whom he loved so dearly: Duke, Landry, and McCrae. He is now at rest peacefully with his daughter Rachelle Dubeau (Gary Kielty).
A celebration of John’s life will be planned at a later date. In the meantime, the family kindly requests donations to Hospice Georgian Triangle which held a special place in John’s heart. Arrangements entrusted to the Chatterson Funeral Home, Collingwood. To sign John’s Book of Memories, please visit www.chattersonfuneralhome.com
