With great sadness we announce the passing of Shirley Anne Fines (nee Goodman) on Saturday February 1, 2025, in her 96th year. Shirley was born in Regina, Saskatchewan where her upbringing was founded in prairie life values, focused on family, friends and fun. Those enduring qualities remained steadfast with her to the end. She was married for 70 years to Howard Fines (predeceased) of Regina where their migration east to Toronto via Winnipeg and Thunder Bay was for Howie to pursue career opportunities in the financial services sector. In Toronto they raised two daughters, Debbie Clemens (Keith) and Sandy Fines (Ron Hohs). She was a doting “Nanny” to granddaughters Lynsey, Lauren (Mike), Caitlin (Adam) and Colleen (Mat). Shirley was so proud to be a “Great Nan” to five great granddaughters Emma, Leah, Jocelyn, Alyssa and Liliana along with grandsons Lachlan and Logan of Edinburgh. Shirley proudly lived every aspect of her life with grace, respect and dignity. She was a bonafide retailer, establishing “The Poke About” gift shop with her daughters located at Yonge and Castlefield in Toronto for 22 years.

Shirley will be in the care of the Fawcett Funeral Home in Collingwood where a visitation will take place on Sunday February 9, 2025, from 2-4. A private family interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, a donation in Shirley’s memory to Lions Guide Dog Services would be appreciated or to Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House in Collingwood where everyone who came in contact with Shirley demonstrated love, care and compassion in her short stay. Shirley was a beautiful woman who lived a beautiful life and was truly loved. Friends may visit Shirley’s online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
