It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosalyn Filomena Gizzi in Collingwood Ontario on January 15, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born in Falkirk, Scotland, Rosalyn grew up in Glasgow, then as a young woman in the 1960’s moved to Toronto, Canada, inspiring her parents, sisters and their families to follow and build their lives here. A strong, independent, and career-focused woman, Rosalyn advanced quickly to become one of the first female managers at Confederation Life Insurance Company. Her wit, charm, generosity, and her tenacity will be remembered by all who worked with Rosalyn and all who loved her.
Rosalyn was predeceased by her parents, Peter Gizzi and Caroline Gizzi (Kalinowski). She leaves behind her sisters Caroline Marchi and Diane Warner, and Diane’s husband Glenn Warner; her nephew Romano Marchi and his partner Robin Gibson, her niece Gabrielle Bush and her husband Matthew Bush, and her nephew Giancarlo Marchi; her grand nieces and nephews Sarah Marchi and her partner Thomas Pigden, Max Bush, Ali Bush and her partner Jeff Barrett, and Jack Marchi; her great nieces and nephews Norah and Lyla Pigden, and Birchell Barrett.
Rosalyn spent her retirement close with family in Collingwood and finally in Thornbury Ontario.
A lover of animals, precious times were spent with her dogs, most recently walking the shores of Georgian Bay with her best friend JJ. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A celebration of Rosalyn’s life will be held on Saturday, January 25 th from 4 to 6 pm, at the home of Gabrielle and Matthew Bush at 144 Cameron Street in Thornbury. If desired, donations can be made to The Georgian Triangle Humane Society.
