Died peacefully on Tuesday March 18, 2025, at Dufferin Oaks Long Term Care Home, Shelburne at the age of 84.

Doug of Stayner, formerly of Dundalk, beloved husband of Sharon (nee Sled) for over 60 years.  Loving father of Scott and Leanne (Trent Campbell).  Cherished Poppa of Aiden (Emily) and Nolan Campbell.  Dear brother-in-law of Eleanor Kurrle, John, David and Philip Sled and their families. Doug was the only child of Alfred and Jean (nee Johnson) Inkster.

He was a quiet, humble and kind man. He always put his family first, then came his community.  He devoted much of his life to serving his community as a scout leader, devoted member of his church and as Lion for over 55 years.  He enjoyed curling and travelling and being outdoors.  He was never one to be idle. He enjoyed the busyness of helping others, fixing whatever needed to be and puttering on his large lot, often catching poison ivy.  He and Sharon travelled this country in their camper and he was proud to share that he had seen much of Canada.

He was patient and determined and he set a wonderful example for his family and all who spent any time with him.

Friends will be received by his family at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home -Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Monday March 24, 2025 from 7 to 9 p.m.  and from 10 a.m. for the Funeral Service which will be held at Centennial United Church, 234 William Street, Stayner on Tuesday March 25, 2025 at 11 o’clock.  Reception to follow. Interment Stayner Union cemetery.

Doug’s family wish to thank the staff of Dufferin Oaks for their excellent care and compassion.   If desired, a donation to Centennial United Church or the Stayner Lions Club would be appreciated by his family.  To sign Doug’s Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
