February 22, 1941 - January 17, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of My Ping Jong on January 17, 2025, at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket. My was born on February 22, 1941, in Canton China to Kuen Fong and Ngai Kwai (Cheung) Nip.

My leaves behind her loving husband, Louis of 68 years. Lovingly remembered by her children Jimmy, Jeannie Hanson, Patrick (Annette Ackermann), Micheal, Tommy, Rose (Matthew); Grandchildren: Jennifer Hanson (Stephen de Boer), Genevieve Hanson, Chyna-Lynn Noel, Yasmeen, Sianna; Great-Grandchild Aliaha (Thomas) Osborne. She was the sister of Sun Foo Lem and Kin (Tina) Nip and will be remembered by her nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband Sick Koo (Louis), they owned and operated Jong’s Restaurant in Stayner for 44 years. Their first restaurant was in Collingwood as Spring Gardens/Paradise Gardens for 21 years. In her spare time, she loved dining out, gardening and leisure walks with her husband.

Those who knew My will always remember her for her kindness, generous spirit, and her warm smile and laughter that could light up any room. She lived and loved with her whole heart, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Visitation service will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, from 7:00-9:00 pm at Fawcett Funeral Home in Collingwood.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in My Ping Jong’s name to Newmarket Southlake Hospital - Cardiac Care Program or Collingwood General Marine Hospital. Friends may visit My’s online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
