Mary of Stayner, beloved wife of the late Michael Kopacz (1998). Loving mother of the late Mike (2000), Harry, Tim, the late Walter (1953), Stefan, and her cat Musha. Cherished grandmother of David, Suzzane, Sherri, Jennifer, Kristy, Alex, Samantha, Devon, and great-grandmother of Cody, Colton, Tyler, and Megan. Dear sister of Sylvester Medwedchuk, the late Walter Medwedchuk, and the late Edith Albin. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Mary was born in Sifton, Manitoba on April 3rd, 1932 to Mike and Sophia Medwedchuk. Mary and her husband, Mike met and were married in Toronto, where their children were all born. She lived in Sifton, East Danforth, Wasaga Beach, and Stayner. Mary’s working career was spent largely in Clearview where she was a general labourer, working on farms, harvesting, and local factories as times seemed fit over the years, all the while maintaining a spotless home and raising her boys. Wherever Mary lived, she kept beautiful gardens; her yard an oasis. She enjoyed Bingo every day of the week she could and a monthly trip to Casino Rama, and was one of several ladies to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wasaga Lions Bingo as supporters for over 40 years.
Family was important to Mary who always welcomed them with open arms.
Thank you for the care Mary received from the Bayshore, and St Elizabeth’s PSWs for making mom feel safe and adored.
