Gerald McCulloch, aged 107, passed away peacefully at Sunset Manor in Collingwood on October 1, 2024. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing this fine gentleman. Gerald’s gentle spirit and radiant smile brought joy to everyone he met. 

Born in Rippingale, England, on January 12, 1917. Gerald served in the British Royal Air Force from 1939 to 1946, working on fighter jets, which took him to countries such as Egypt, Greece and Italy.

In 1951, he and his wife moved to Canada when Gerald was recruited by A.V. Roe to supervise engine building on the special AVRO Arrow project – the first and last Canadian supersonic interceptor. In 1982, he moved to Collingwood. Gerald was an honorary member of the volunteer club that built the Arrow replica on display at the Edenvale Aerodrome. 

Gerald was predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine, in 2013. He is survived by his niece, Gill Makin and her husband Barry who reside in England. Gerald was also a cherished friend to Gail Woodward and Betty Wallace, who hold fond memories of their many times together.
