We are saddened to let everyone know that Alexander ‘Alex’ Robin Murphy passed away July 2nd, 2024, at home, surrounded by family at the age of 76.

Alex had a full life.  Born in Montreal, Quebec to Joseph and Janet (nee Cantley) and raised in Mascouche Heights, Quebec.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Alex had a 30-year career in the Canadian Navy (1965-1995). He sailed on many ships and worked ashore.  He retired as a Petty Officer First Class.  His trade changed over the years from Radio Tech to Radioman to Naval Communicator.  He enjoyed it all.

He touched many hearts during his lifetime.

Alex, of Wasaga Beach, was the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Moore).  Proud father of Barry (Marilee), Angela, Douglas, Janet and David (Megan).  He felt blessed to be the grandfather of Tara, Kyle, Amy, Lucas, Ashley, Corra, Jack, Isabel, Nora and great-grandfather of Emma and Kolby.

He will be lovingly remembered by his community, especially his bingo and card playing buddies with whom he formed a close friendship.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Club House – 135 Greenway Drive, Wasaga Beach; a place where he enjoyed so many events over the years.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alex to Autism Canada would be appreciated by the family.
