Born May 26, 1941, in Taunton, Somerset County, England
Passed on October 7, 2024, in Collingwood, Ontario

Daughter of Rosie and Lt. Eric Niblett, Royal Army Service Corps.

Survived by Dr. James MacMillan, partner of seven years, and his family; sister Mary Savidge and her family and husband, Michael Savidge; sister Anne Zemla and family, and her husband Gordon Stewart.

Sue was born the day after notification that her father was missing in action in the Second World War. Sue and her sisters were raised by their mother, Rosie, who poured great love into their upbringing and instilled discipline in the girls. A hitherto unbreakable bond between sisters was formed. With funds from army sources and from friends, Sue attended Weirfield School, a private school in Taunton, until the age of 16. She also studied at a secretarial school in Taunton. An adventurous young woman, she emigrated to Australia, where she lived for four years. She returned to Taunton and then London, and in 1969 emigrated to Toronto, Canada.

Immediately impressing in job interviews, she became Executive Secretary at the Royal York Hotel. Subsequently, she held many interesting jobs, notably at the Guild Inn in Toronto and Onyx Corporation. She was, for some years, a manager in the Miss Canada Pageant, a job which allowed her to travel internationally. In mid life, she acquired a cottage in the hills near Singhampton, where she developed a deep love of horses, especially for Chester, a horse she took care of for over 30 years. She also developed a passion for hiking and became involved in the operations of the Blue Mountain section of the Bruce Trail Association. Over the years, she set out energetically with friends to hike every province in Canada.

She was very active with the Probus Club of the Gateway over the past decade.

In later years, she moved to Ruperts Landing, Collingwood where she formed a loving relationship with retired physician, Jim MacMillan.

Sue died suddenly from rupture of an aortic aneurysm. Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday October 27, 2024, from 12:30 – 3:00 p.m. at the Blue Mountain Golf and Country Club, Collingwood. Friends may visit Sue's online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
