November 23, 1944 - August 27, 2024

Norbert (Norm) Pirk passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2024, surrounded by family. Norm immigrated to Canada in 1956 from Germany with his parents and younger brother: all predeceased.

Norm graduated from U of T with a BA in history and later a Masters of Education. He worked for both the Scarborough and Peel Boards of Education and served as Principal at Bramalea and The Woodlands Secondary Schools. It was at Midland Ave. C.I. that he met his future wife, Margaret Wert, to whom he was married for 56 wonderful years. He loved his 33 years of teaching and never tired of learning.

Norm had a keen eye for design and craftsmanship. He revelled in the custom design of 2 unique Collingwood homes and in his meticulous execution of gold and silver jewelry.

Summers were spent sailing a C&C 32 on Lake Ontario while winters found him taking cooking and jewelry courses at George Brown College. He relished good food, a gutsy red wine and a wee dram of Scotch. His only allergy was “small desserts. He embraced travel and his all time favourite destination was Bali. Norbert retired to Collingwood in 1998 and was an active member of the PROBUS Club of the Gateway as well as Chair of the GTLLI. He enjoyed riding his Harley, all water sports, fishing, golf, skiing, curling, and gardening.

The family would like to thank Dr. K. Gomez Hernandez, Dr. M. Krzyzanowska, Dr. C. Barron and Dr. C. Stevens for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Norm’s life will take place mid October. Friends may visit www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
