It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Regis (Reg) Richard, just shy of his 94th birthday, of Collingwood, on June 15th, 2024. Reg is survived by his devoted wife Joan, loving daughter Dana, son-in-law Ken, granddaughter Carly and grandson-in-law Steven.
Reg was born on July 14, 1930, to David Richard and Victorine Allain in St. Anne de Kent, NB.
In 1954 Reg met Joan in Scarborough, Ontario, and they went on to have a strong and loving marriage of just over 68 years.
Reg and Joan went on to have 2 children, the late David and Dana. Reg and Joan lived in Toronto, West Hill, Pickering, Collingwood and most recently Wasaga Beach during their married life.
In 1990, Reg fully retired and spent time in Florida (28 years) and puttering around the yard. Reg was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team and had a fun rivalry with his brothers who were Boston Bruins fans.
Reg was predeceased by son David (2008), his parents and 12 siblings. He was the last member of the Richard children to pass.
Reg had a limited formal education but went on to be a successful self-employed businessman. Reg, was one of the kindest, most honest and devoted men to those who were fortunate to know him and will be forever missed by those who loved him.
Services will be held at Fawcett Funeral Home (82 Pine Street, Collingwood, ON) on Thursday June 20th. Visitation at 11am. with a service at noon and a reception to follow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle-Campbell House Hospice (Collingwood) or a charity of your choice.
