October 11th, 1954 – February 13th, 2025.

Dan Scotney, youngest of ten siblings, died February 13th, 2025.  Dan was predeceased by his parents, George and Berniece “Granny” Scotney (nee Mitchell).  Of his 10 siblings, Dan was closest to his sister, Mary.

Dan’s career was in the hotel industry.  He started as a waiter and bartender at the Holiday Inn in Collingwood, working his way up to Manager at the Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto.

Dan loved the Toronto Blue Jays, attending many home games as season ticket holder in the 200 section at the Skydome.

An avid bowler, as a kid, he was a pin setter at the bowling alley on the main street in Collingwood.  He organized with great success, and attended many IGBO tournaments in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

He was also family historian, researching back many generations with persistence.  He spent much time using Ancestry, going to cemeteries and churches for family genealogy.

He will be fondly remembered by all family members.

Dan will be lovingly missed by Sharon, Alan, Memphis, Linda and Alex.

Many thanks to all the staff at Fudger House, St. Michaels Hospital, and Fawcett’s Funeral Home for Dan’s care and support.

The family wishes to give much love and thanks to Dan’s lifelong friend, Mark Caroline for his support, guidance, and friendship.

Cremation will take place and no service will occur.  In lieu of any flowers, a donation in Dan’s name to the charity of your choice will be appreciated by the family. Friends may visit Dan's online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
