Jasmine (Jackie) Mabel Sheffield (nee Lowe) passed away peacefully on January 23rd at Campbell House in Collingwood, Ontario.
Predeceased by her husband Franklin Sheffield (1994), Jasmine was the loving mother of Lorraine, Frank Jr. (Valerie), Vincent (Dominic), Eunice (Hossein), Leonard, Raymond (Belinda), and Reginald (Julia). She was grandmother to Sara (Darcy), Layla, Richard, Daniel, Quinn, Kobe, Ava, Isaiah, Nathaniel, Monique, Emma, and Noah, and a great-grandmother to Margaret, Mabel, and Ella. She was sister to Joyce Reid (Long Island, New York), Vincent Lowe (Toronto), and the late Courtney Lowe, Ruby Davis, Arthur Lowe, Iris Trent and Violet Wulckow.
Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, to Joseph and Evelyn Lowe, Jasmine moved to Toronto in the early 1950s. She met her future husband, Frank Sheffield, through their hockey-playing brothers. They married on September 4th, 1954, and settled in Collingwood, raising seven children.
Jasmine worked in various positions, including at Tip Top Tailors in Toronto. She volunteered in the community and was a stay-at-home mom. Later, she worked at Harding Carpet and Daals/Bendix until retirement. Jasmine was a member of the Collingwood Legion Ladies Auxiliary, receiving her 45th-year pin in 2022. She loved traveling with Frank to Legion events and visited her brother Courtney in Barbados in the 1990s. Jasmine was a member of the Heritage Community Church, where she sang in the choir. She lived at the Galleries on Eighth Street before moving to Bay Haven Care Community in 2024.
Jasmine's kind and caring nature was evident in her love for family and friends. Donations in her honour can be made to Campbell House (Hospice Georgian Triangle) and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 31st from 1pm to 4pm at Fawcett Funeral Homes – Collingwood Chapel. A second visitation will be on February 1st at 12pm, followed by a service at First Presbyterian Church at 1pm. A reception will follow the service at the Royal Canadian Legion.
