1935-2024

Peacefully at Gardens of Wasaga Retirement Home on October 28, 2024 at age 89.

Predeceased by wife Milica (“Melissa”), stepson John Tintor and stepdaughter Diane Tintor. Survived by stepdaughter Joan Tintor, stepson Michael Tintor, and grandchildren Elica and Owen Tintor. Surviving relatives in England include sister Brenda Beere and her daughter Carol Rogers (Clive).

Terry was born in the Sydenham district of London, England. He completed mandatory military service and immigrated to Canada in 1957, settling in Toronto.

For several years Terry owned and operated a diner, the Blue Grill, on Lakeshore Boulevard West in New Toronto. Through his friends the Lawsons, he met widow Milica (“Melissa”) Tintor and her four children. They married in 1972 and Terry moved into Milica’s home (across from the Lawsons) on 16th Street. Terry shuttered the diner, took a job with the Coleman Company of Canada, and saw little reason to cook again, other than an occasional grilled cheese sandwich.

In 1978, the family of six moved into a new home in the Erin Mills area of Mississauga. Terry referred to the house and yard as “my estate” and regarded all persons situated on it as his subjects. After Coleman closed its Canadian operations in 1989, Terry found employment in the HVAC industry, until his and Milica’s retirement in 2001. They retired to a new home in the west end of Wasaga Beach.

Terry and Milica were staunch homebodies, and enjoyed friendships with many Wasaga neighbours, most of whom were also first purchasers of their homes on the same street. After Milica’s passing in 2013, Terry remained in their home, taking care of it and himself for the next decade, while persevering through several age-related ailments. He moved to the Gardens of Wasaga in April of this year,

Many thanks to the caring and patient staff of Gardens of Wasaga, St. Elizabeth (SE Health), Bayshore HealthCare, Georgian Bay Family Health Team, Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, longtime physician Dr. Joe Greyling, physician’s assistant Val, and Shoreline Health Clinic nurse practitioner Carissa Price. To sign Terry’s Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
