WEIR, Alice Loreen

Posted

Weir
It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Loreen Weir announce her passing on Sunday February 9, 2020 at the age of 95. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Roy Weir.

Born on November 2, 1924 in Eugenia Falls, ON to Sarah and Nelson Tempest, she was the second child (predeceased by a brother). Loreen grew up in Eugenia Falls and eventually moved to Toronto where she worked for a number of years before moving to Collingwood. Her decision to move to Collingwood was a pivotal point in her life. It was where she met and married the love of her life, her husband Roy. Roy always jokingly said, she fell for him, when they collided at a dance, and he caught her. The rest was history. They lived on the Weir family farm with Roy’s parents. Their union was a fruitful one having had four children, one of whom was taken from them early in his life. Loreen and Roy worked hard, were fun loving and well respected in their community. There was never a shortage of friends nor a dull moment. The house was always full of music and laughter. Loreen was a dedicated member of the United Church Women, Women’s Institute and the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Her door was always open, the tea kettle was always on and everyone was always welcome in their home.

She will be sadly missed yet will always remain lovingly in our hearts.

Beloved mother of Robert (predeceased), Leah (Arthur), Jocelyn (David) and Bill (Gloria). Adored grandmother of Joshua, Krystina (Kevin), Alex, Elizabeth and Sarah. Devoted great grandmother of Tyler, Landen and Evie.

Visitation will be held at the Chatterson Funeral Home, Collingwood, on Thursday February 13 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at the Nottawa United Church, Nottawa, on Friday February 14 at 11am.
