Guelph police say a man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted another man over snowball throwing last week.

Police say a man was throwing snowballs at a youth in the area of St. George's Square Thursday afternoon when another man told him to stop.

They allege a physical altercation ensued, during which the victim was punched and kicked in the head several times.

Police say the victim had several cuts to the face and hand but declined medical help.

They say a 41-year-old Guelph man was found downtown on Sunday and arrested for assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
