Huronia West OPP has charged two people with drug-related offences as part of an investigation that began in April.
In early April, police began investigating a woman believed to be trafficking fentanyl and cocaine in the Huronia West OPP detachment area. She had been the subject of a previous drug investigation in the OPP’s West Region and is currently before the courts in relation to those charges.
Police later identified a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking with the woman.
On June 17, police “observed evidence consistent with drug trafficking,” according to a news release. A traffic stop was conducted, and the two suspects were arrested. A search of the vehicle turned up “a significant amount” of fentanyl and cocaine as well as “offence-related currency.”
A 42-year-old woman from South Bruce Peninsula and a 41-year-old man from Wasaga Beach have been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid other than heroin). The man has also been charged with operation while prohibited.
Both were held for bail.
