Investigations into intimate partner violence lead to 2 arrests

Two separate investigations by the Grey Bruce OPP led to the arrest of one person from Meaford and one from South Bruce Peninsula

This week police arrested two people after investigating two separate reports of intimate partner violence in the Grey-Bruce region. 

On July 21 at 3:27 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an address in Meaford where they determined a suspect had threatened to kill their partner and a child in the home. 

As a result, police arrested a 37-year-old Meaford resident and charged them with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (spousal) and with uttering threats. The charges have not been proven in court. 

The next day, July 22, at 1:15 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP were called to an address in South Bruce Peninsula where they determined a suspect had threatened to kill and ex-partner's new partner. 

"Investigation revealed historic domestic incidents," reports a news release from OPP. 

Officers arrested a 22-year-old fro South Bruce Peninsula and charged them with: 

  • forcible confinement 
  • assault - spousal 
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm - spousal 
  • Uttering threats 

The charges have not been tested in court. 

Police will not release the names of the accused in order to protect the identities of the victims.
