A Thornbury man is facing charges after items were stolen from two vehicles recently.

Just after 3 p.m. Jan. 4, police were called to a theft in progress in Thornbury when a man was seen stealing items from a vehicle that was parked in a resident’s driveway on Arthur Street.

The suspect fled on foot but was quickly located by police. He was in possession of several stolen items, Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP said in a news release. Police learned a second vehicle had been entered in a commercial parking lot on King Street in Thornbury. The owners of several items that were stolen have been identified.

The 38-year-old man has been charged with two counts each of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released from custody and has a Jan. 30 court date in Owen Sound.
