Police were called to a local cemetery on Friday after it's alleged a man stabbed a co-worker while a crew of people were working on repairs to the property.
Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested one person after the incident, which took place at Collingwood First Presbyterian Cemetery on Poplar Sideroad in Clearview Township.
According to a police report, a man stabbed a co-worker with a knife, then fled the scene into the nearby woods.
The victim went to hospital for minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
OPP from Collingwood, The Blue Mountains and Huronia West detachment arrived on scene and arrested the accused an hour later with the help of an emergency response team, canine and aviation services.
OPP have charged a 33-year-old man from The Blue Mountains with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of escape lawful custody. The accused was held for a bail hearing and will face the charges in court in Collingwood later.
The chair of the board for the First Presbyterian Church clarified the stabbing took place in the Trinity United portion of the cemetery and the altercation was between two subcontractors, not between cemetery staff.
