OPP identify deceased woman as Wasaga Beach resident

WASAGA BEACH - On Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 at approximately 7:40 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services responded to a 911 call reporting a female with vital signs absent lying in a ditch full of water in the area of River Road West and Beck Street in Wasaga Beach, Wasaga Beach. Despite the efforts of emergency services personnel at the scene, the female was pronounced deceased.

The Huronia West Crime Unit, Central Region Forensic Identification Unit (FIS), in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.

Through investigation the victim has been identified as a 63-year-old female resident of Wasaga Beach.

The incident is not deemed to be suspicious in nature, however the Huronia West Detachment is continuing this investigation.
