Police find 538 marijuana plants in Springwater cornfield

A local farmer who came across the plants notified police

Local police ventured into a corn field to pull up more than 500 illegal marijuana plants discovered by an area farmer. 

According to a news release from Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a farmer was working in a field in Springwater when he came across the grow op. The farmer reported it to police, who arrived on July 29 to locate and pull up 538 immature marijuana plants. 

"All four plots were deep into the cornfield," states the OPP news release. 

The plants were destroyed at the scene. 

Members of the Community Street Crime Unit are involved in the ongoing investigation.
