How can we make the biggest positive change in the world? Where do we start?

Canada Gives, a registered charity that helps clients establish philanthropic foundations, is here to help answer these questions— and they are seeking a Philanthropic Planning Associate to join their team.

The team at Canada Gives helps affluent Canadian donors create lasting change by providing them with extensive support with their gift-planning. While setting up a private charitable foundation can take up to a year, clients can set up a foundation with Canada Gives in less than one day.

The successful candidate for the Philanthropic Planning Associate role will join a team of professionals who are passionate about helping their clients become successful foundation-funders.

The Associate will support the charity’s DAF (Donor Advised Funds) donors, helping families enter into meaningful relationships with charitable partners and ensuring that the impact is felt by both the families and the charities.

The position is located at the Canada Gives office on Huron Street in Collingwood. The ideal candidate is a planning professional with at least five years of experience in financial services or as a major gift planner at a large Canadian charity.

The role involves conducting extensive charity research, producing detailed charity reports, and working with charities to develop impactful gifts. The Associate will implement gift planning strategies, prepare gift agreements, stay informed about the charity sector, manage donor data, and more. All of this requires skills in donor relations, research, and communication.

Ideally, the candidate is familiar with family and multi-generational philanthropy, has strong networking and time management skills, and possesses a solid understanding of donation strategy and estate planning.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRMs is also a must, and a CFRE or MFA-P designation is preferred by the charity.

When it comes to soft skills, a strong attention to detail is important. But equally important is a warmth in your interactions with others, as well as a philanthropic spirit. The staff at Canada Gives are enthusiastic about connecting philanthropists with charities and making these relationships a success— to truly create meaningful change in the world.

Interested applicants can send their resume to [email protected] or contact Karen Clarke at +1 (844) 583-4483.
