One of Canada’s top-rated golf courses has a busy slate of events this summer. The Mad River Golf Club, situated in Creemore, is ground zero for several premiere events.

Last July, the club played host to the 2023 Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship. The Mad River Golf Club is thrilled to continue another exciting season of golf and community giving.

Recently, the club hosted the 10th anniversary of the Small Halls Festival. This event catered to 80 participants, many of whom had never played at Mad River before. As a private club, the chance to play Mad River is rare, so it’s always a treat for golfers to experience this premiere course.

“Our club is proud to open its doors when it comes with the opportunity to give back to the community,” said Membership Director Sandy Higgins.

Every year, the club welcomes the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital for the G&M Classic, which is the club’s largest event of the season at over 132 players. This season will mark the 30th anniversary of hosting this tournament, Mad River’s charity of choice.

This season, the G&M Classic will take place on Wednesday, September 11. Although sold out, there may still be an opportunity to play if any last-minute openings arise. Contact the foundation office at 705-444-8645 for more details.

New to Mad River this fall is the Georgian Triangle Humane Society event. This golf tournament will be held on Monday, September 16. The fee for this event is $500, and participants will receive a $150 tax receipt.

The proceeds raised by this event will help thousands of pets in need right here in the Georgian Triangle. For more information on the Georgian Triangle Humane Society’s tournament, please contact the GTHS at GTHS.ca.

Earlier this month, GolfWeek released their 2024 ranking of top 100 international golf courses. We are proud that Mad River was ranked #88 on this worldwide list of prestigious golf courses.

GolfWeek’s Best has ranked classic and modern international courses in the past, but 2024 marks the first year when all ages of courses have been combined to build one comprehensive ranking of layouts outside the United States.

The Mad River Golf Club takes a lot of pride in its ranking both nationally with SCOREGolf, and now internationally with GolfWeek. As one of only 18 Canadian courses to be ranked on this list and only 9 from Ontario, it’s an honour for Mad River to be mentioned among the most beautiful courses in the world.

At Mad River Golf Club, we prioritize the golf course. It’s maintained in tournament condition every day, while offering a beautiful variety of holes in the spectacular rural setting of the Niagara Escarpment, surrounded by nature.
