“The Simcoe-Grey MP Community Leader Awards are my way to help recognize and show appreciation for the tireless efforts of individuals who selflessly dedicate their time, energy, and talents towards the betterment of their community,” said MP Terry Dowdall.
“In every community in Simcoe-Grey we all know generous individuals who enrich the lives of others everyday through selfless volunteer work.”
MP Dowdall encourages individuals to nominate volunteers who deserve recognition for helping others in so many ways. Some examples include those who make food for the less fortunate, those who assist seniors with errands, youth sports coaches, and those who work with community members with learning or physical disabilities.
“Our communities would be a lot less vibrant without our volunteers,” added MP Dowdall. “I know I will receive many great nominations because I see firsthand everyday how volunteers make Simcoe-Grey a better place to live. I am proud to help recognize the many hardworking and dedicated volunteers with these Awards.”
Community Leader Awards Categories
There are five categories for the Simcoe-Grey MP Community Leader Awards. The nomination categories are,

- Service Club or Religious Organization
At its core, the significance of the Simcoe-Grey MP Community Leader Awards honors the diverse spectrum of volunteers who work tirelessly across the various spheres of community life. From dedicated volunteers who spearhead initiatives to help youth to seasoned adults who lend their expertise and experience to mentor the next generation.
MP Dowdall said, “There are the seniors who continue to contribute their wisdom and skills to others and the businesses, service clubs, and religious organizations that provide vital support and resources. I’m proud that the Simcoe-Grey MP Community Leader Awards celebrate the collective spirit of altruism and civic engagement.”
The nominees in each category have gone above and beyond in making a positive difference in the lives of others through volunteering in Simcoe-Grey. MP Dowdall said, “I strongly encourage you to take the time to nominate an individual, business, or organization that makes a positive impact in our community.”
Solid record of public service
MP Dowdall has a longstanding reputation as an effective municipal leader, successful business owner, and strong member of the community. He recognizes the importance of acknowledging the volunteer spirit in his community. He also has a solid track record of public service. For 18 years he served the Township of Essa in the roles of mayor, deputy mayor, and councillor, while also serving as Simcoe County’s Deputy Warden from 2014 to 2018. Terry Dowdall has represented Simcoe-Grey as MP since October 2019.

Nominations will be accepted through MP Terry Dowdall’s offices until March 31st. A congratulatory luncheon will be held for recipients this spring or summer.
