They say the only constant in life is change.

Styles change. Cars change. We change.

Change brings with it opportunity.

Our government recently made two major announcements that will support and allow our growing municipalities in Simcoe-Grey the opportunity to expand and experience positive change.

Almost $70 million dollars has been committed to the expansion of the Raymond A. Barker Water Treatment Plant in Collingwood. This project is vital as new housing is built in Collingwood and New Tecumseh. The funding will enable 59,731 units.

This is a transformational investment in a generational project that will build sustainable and resilient communities in Simcoe-Grey.

By partnering with the Towns of Collingwood and New Tecumseth, the Government of Ontario is making sure that the proper linear infrastructure is in place to support responsible growth that includes much needed housing, schools, hospitals and businesses.

As my colleague, Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure said, by investing in drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities and connecting pipes to land, we are helping municipalities build more homes.

Also, in the Town of the Blue Mountains, our government is investing $25,397,523.99 to enable the construction of new homes in the Town of the Blue Mountains.

This funding will support Wastewater System Upgrades and Rehabilitation and will enable 2,078 units in the Town of the Blue Mountains.

In both cases, the funding is being delivered through the first round of investments under the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, which includes $970 million to help municipalities develop, repair, rehabilitate and expand drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.

We all know Simcoe-Grey is a great place to live, play and raise a family.

This pocket of the province is also a great place to invest and start new roots.

As we welcome new residents and businesses to Simcoe-Grey, we are supporting our municipalities and are making these crucial investments to ensure planning is done responsibility and will serve generations to come.

As they say, the one constant in life, is change.
