It’s June, we’re finally enjoying summery weather and blue skies, and the time to honour the dads and other father figures in our lives is just around the corner.
While many BBQs will no doubt be fired up and backyard celebrations held, it’s nice to be able to give your dad a special gift too. Some fathers can be notoriously difficult to shop for, but the one thing many agree on is a love for their local hardware store.

We spoke with store co-owner Tracey Caron, who shared her great gift ideas for Father’s Day 2022. “There are so many things that dads like that work well as gift ideas,” she says.
“They like hammocks, BBQs, tools, Yeti products, Red Canoe National Heritage caps and bags, even small gifts such as novelty socks Yo Sox, mugs, shot glasses and beer/barware, which we have lots of.”
The store carries a colourful, striped, double-cotton hammock that would make the perfect addition to any deck or backyard.
They also have a great selection of in-stock BBQs; choose from natural gas, propane, charcoal or electric, as well as smokers and wood pellet grills. They carry all of the big brand names too, including Weber, Broil King, Char Broil, Napoleon, Green Egg and Pit Boss.
Dads who like to keep busy and are good with their hands will always appreciate new tools. Home Hardware carries the biggest brands, such as Makita, DeWalt, Bosch, Milwaukee, Radley and Benchmark.
The Red Canoe National Heritage Brands line includes caps, toiletry and tote bags featuring the iconic Canada Beaver, CBC Radio and the RCAF. YETI’s ultra-durable cooler bags, mugs, water bottles, ramblers, tumblers, can insulators and drinkware accessories also make excellent gifts that will be used year-round.
