s much as we don’t like to accept it, the inside areas of our homes are not always as clean as we would like to believe.
For example, increased working from home can turn your computer and workstation into a breeding ground for germs. Even the cleanest-looking bathroom sink gets a build up of the exact germs you wash off your hands after going to the bathroom. Kitchen sinks are a popular spot for E.coli. Cutting boards, doorknobs, faucets, remote controls, gaming sticks, switches, walls, counter tops and other surfaces can be covered in pathogens.
Add in various dust and airborne contaminants from smoking, cooking, mould, heating systems, attached garages, home improvement projects, and general traffic throughout, and you’ve got a home that’s most likely in need of a thorough floor to ceiling cleaning.
As more people become aware of the often toxic composition of many everyday cleaning products being manufactured and sold today, the value of having your home cleaned by professionals using alternative methods becomes more apparent. That’s been one of the primary reasons for the success of The Green Team, a residential cleaning service serving the Collingwood area.
According to owner Tom Zinn, the choice of cleaning products used by his cleaning staff is one of the major differences between The Green Team and its local competitors.
“One of the primary reasons people call us is because they want their home cleaned using eco-friendly options, with no toxic chemicals and no odours,” said Zinn. “There are alternative products that can be used, including vinegar and other natural cleaning agents that can be quite effective. People don’t want to be inhaling bleach and chemicals.”
Zinn founded The Green Team just over a year ago as a response to the poor quality of service he was receiving from various cleaning firms he had previously hired.
“Personally, as a working professional, I had been using a variety of cleaners in my own home for years. I found I was cycling through them, because I always had issues whether it was with the quality or the lack of professionalism. Essentially, we founded the company to fill the gap and to offer something that was more detailed and more professional.”
Providing a service that offered consumers professionalism and quality work along with convenient booking, billing, and scheduling was another major objective for launching The Green Team. Zinn said people leading busy lives want the convenience of a cleaning company that works around their schedules and delivers a comprehensive cleaning every time.
“We offer a cleaning service that’s more detailed, more professional,” he said. “There’s easy online booking with a credit card. There’s chat available. It’s super convenient. My goal was to make it as seamless and unobtrusive as possible. This helps free up as much of everyone’s time as possible so they can focus on what’s important, things like their profession and their family.”
Zinn said in most cases the first cleaning appointment usually takes three to four hours, and customers are always satisfied with the results.
“The team is not just in there dusting off shelves. Each team goes through a comprehensive checklist that basically nails all the nooks and crannies. We go through it with the client as well to make sure they’re satisfied. The reaction after our first cleaning is great. They really appreciate it and can see the difference. They may have booked a one-off but most time they sign on to become a client after one cleaning.”
